Theresa Boakye — UX Researcher & Designer — Denver, CO

Design rooted in research across B2B SaaS, EdTech, nonprofit, and consumer apps.

I take time to understand user needs, business constraints, and the tension between them before the design starts. What gets built is shaped by what the research finds.

Behavioral analysis came first to establish a baseline and to reach the majority of user types without depending on participation. Surveys, interviews, competitive benchmarking, and a communications audit followed, each matched to what a given persona could uniquely show or say.

Competitive analysis showed the official LMS-to-SIS integration moved data but didn't surface it for families, and five student planners covered prioritization without touching school data. Twelve secondary sources and ten interviews across five parent and student pairs reframed the problem: platform trust, not prioritization, was the acute pain. Phase 1 of the roadmap addresses it.

Eight stakeholder interviews across coaches, parents, and admins, plus a competitive analysis of five youth sports platforms, surfaced patterns in coaching consistency, roster decisions, communications, and operational dependence. The work produced five structural recommendations, now in phased implementation, designed to safeguard the organization's culture as it grows.

Research across members, volunteers, newcomers, and youth surfaced different needs from the same site. The redesign reorganized the navigation and content around how each group used it. Leadership approved the structure and layout.

Interviews with hikers identified moms as a more specific audience than the project began with. The concept consolidates trail discovery, group coordination, and real-time conditions in one place instead of toggling between three apps. Two rounds of usability testing shaped the planning flow.
